Amar Husain Mental Health Counseling Services

Frequently asked questions

At Amar Husain Mental Health Counseling Services, we understand how difficult seeking therapy can be. We are here for you and believe that healing is possible.

Body: $375 – Initial Sessions/Intake
$275 – Individual Sessions
$350 – Couples Therapy
$200 – Coaching Sessions

Amar Husain Mental Health Counseling Services does not accept insurance; however, we will provide each client with a super bill that states all diagnoses and diagnostic codes, which the client may then submit to their insurance company as an out-of-network claim.

We’ve remained a private pay facility in order to maintain a level of excellence and provide care based on clinical recommendations rather than based on the helm of insurance, which often leaves clients receiving inadequate and ineffective care.

Sessions are 1 hour for an initial session, 45 minutes for individual therapy and coaching sessions, and 50 minutes for couples therapy sessions.

We have a 48-hour  (2 business days) cancellation policy. This means that weekend days do not count towards the cancellation policy. For example, if your appointment is scheduled for Monday at 10AM, you must cancel the appointment no later than 10AM the Thursday before the appointment.

If you make a late cancellation within the 48-hour window, you will be charged, but you can reschedule once without incurring a fee.

We offer packages for couples therapy and coaching.

For both packages, you can book the intake/initial session separately, and then it will be deducted from the price of the package (i.e. the remaining 4 sessions).  For couples, we recommend the package, as 5 sessions is the minimum needed to see results and showcases a commitment of both parties to figure things out.

Couples Therapy Package: Five 50-minute sessions for $1,600. 10 50-minute sessions for $3,100.

Coaching Package: Five 45-minute sessions for $1375; this includes daily check-in call or texts for up to 10 minutes.

You can schedule via our contact page, or reach out to us by phone at (917) 791-5098.

As trauma-informed therapists, we specialize in modalities that are effective for processing and getting to the root of the problem that brings you to therapy.

This includes Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family System (IFS), Structural Family Therapy, and Inner Child Work.

Expect to be in a supportive, compassionate place, in which the therapist will ask you questions about yourself and what brings you to therapy. You should feel free to answer questions that you are comfortable answering, we will move at your own pace and you as the client can set the agenda.

The therapist will listen to the issues you present, your concerns and how they are impacting your life and will explore with you what the main 1-3 goals are that you’d like to accomplish in therapy.

This varies from client to client, and depends on presenting issues and symptoms. For some clients it may be short term (a few months) and for others it may be longer term (2-3 years).

FIND CLARITY & PURPOSE IN LIFE

Our approach to healing

Our therapists are experts in trauma and are committed to a holistic, customized approach that targets the root of the problem. Our approach is compassionate, curious and creative. Our practice is also completely online so that therapy is easily accessible for the busy on-the-go professional.

Inclusive

Trauma, depression, and anxiety do not discriminate. They are universal, human problems. We’re committed to providing anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming care.

Holistic

Through somatic therapy we’ll address physical symptoms showing up in the body, along with inner child work to reacquaint you with the unmet needs of your younger selves, and EMDR which helps reprocess traumatic memories.

Tailored

Gaining insight into how your upbringing may be impacting your current life gives you agency and allows you to decide what healing looks like for you. We support your self-leadership, so that you can become your own healer and handle whatever life throws you.

THERAPY DOG/INTERN
SHE/HER

I work best with people who tell me I am the cutest dog they have ever seen.

I am an 18 month old Cavalier King Charles. I’ve been with my forever family for over a year now, and I’ve heard them say that I’ve turned their life upside down, which must be so fun for them. I am the goodest dog (I think), and I love them unconditionally.

I will jump on camera during therapy sessions if I sense that someone is sad and needs my support. My mom tells me not to, but I noticed that it makes the person less sad, so I will keep doing my job and one day they will understand my method.

I am still training to be a therapy dog because I love making people happy and can’t wait to have my own clients.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER & LIFE COACH
SHE/HER

Asking for help is hard, but it’s easier than struggling on your own, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I love being part of the transformation a client goes through from feeling alone and hopeless to realizing that there is always hope. Life is full of possibilities, and we can help you find them.

I specialize in helping young professional women conceptualize their business goals and launch their first successful business. In addition, I support young professional women in identifying the barriers that may be preventing them from achieving their goals and providing them with concrete actionable steps to overcome these barriers. This can look like unlearning the stigma that society has imposed on young women leaders and supporting them in building self-esteem, confidence, and healthy boundaries in their personal and professional life.

CLINICAL SUPERVISOR & LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR
SHE/HER

I work best with young professionals who are struggling at work or in their personal relationships and feel stuck.

Taking the first step to start therapy can feel intimidating. You may not be sure what you should be looking for in a therapist, or you might feel that no one is really able to help you. All these feelings are normal.

My approach to therapy is to create a supportive and compassionate space that will allow us to challenge and explore patterns of behavior, relationship dynamics, thoughts and experiences, while allowing healing to occur on the path to achieving your therapeutic goals.

Each individual’s path to healing is different. My background in Family Trauma Therapy gives me a unique approach. I use various therapeutic modalities that are person-centered and trauma-informed. I have experience treating adults from diverse cultural backgrounds having a range of concerns. I am also bilingual in Arabic and English.

**My work stems from an anti-racist/anti oppressive lens**
